What is Hypnosis/Hypnotherapy?

Hypnosis is a natural, yet altered state of the mind. You enter into this natural state many times throughout your day without even realizing it. In this state of hypnosis communication and responsiveness with the subconscious mind is present.

Hypnotherapy unleashes the creative power of the deep inner mind to effect profound and permanent changes. Movies and TV have created a false image of hypnosis and hypnotherapy. Hypnosis and self-hypnosis are simply normal occurrences that we engage in throughout our everyday experience… without even knowing it!

Have you ever driven somewhere and been so busy in your thoughts that you arrived at your destination without really remembering driving there… like driving on auto-pilot? Have you ever passed your exit on the interstate because you were preoccupied with things on your mind? This is known as “highway hypnosis” and is quite common. It’s where we are actually going into a trance while our eyes remain open and we our subconscious mind continues to allow us to function in a normal manner. The same is true for all those times you were bored during a meeting and found your mind wondering as you daydreamed about something else. This mental visualization is another example of this natural, yet altered hypnotic state.

You see, you probably enter this hypnotic state naturally thousands of times each day but you just haven’t known what to call it until now. You’ve been engaging in self-hypnosis all on your own all along.

Now, imagine being able to harness this ability and utilizing it to your advantage. Imagine being able to visualize and focus on positive things that you want to accomplish. This ability can benefit you in so many aspects of your life, from enhancing your personal life, to increasing work, school or sports performance, and even to improving your ability to manage stress and find more peace in your life.

What’s happening is that your subconscious mind is running your life 90%-95% of the time in this auto-pilot mode. Everyone’s is! The program that it’s running is the sum of your beliefs, the majority of which you did not even choose but which directs your emotions and behavior on a daily basis. Using hypnosis and self-hypnosis can help you rewrite the “program” to benefit you instead of hold you back. The new program can be filled with positive, true beliefs about yourself and your life which can help you succeed like never before. The power is in your hands to make lasting change and hypnosis can help.

Think about how amazing it would be to utilize hypnosis to make this type of change in your life. Imagine learning to visualize success and skill-mastery in your chosen field or sport and then watching it unfold in your life. You can make this happen if you want, and I would be honored to help you do it. These possibilities are being used by many individuals to create a new and better life for themselves and you can join them.

What’s Holding You Back?

Think about what thoughts might be holding you back from creating your best life. Here are some examples:

Work-Related

“I’ll never get that promotion.”

“What if I miss the deadline.”

“I have less experience than my co-worker so I know they’ll get assigned the new project.”

“I can’t compete with my teammates who’ve worked here longer than I have.”

Sports-Related

“What if I miss the free-throw?”

“Everyone is counting on me to not let the team down.”

“I can’t bear to see my dad’s face if I miss another shot.”

“My coach is counting on me to score.”

Relationship-Related

“They wouldn’t want to date someone like me.”

“I’m not successful enough to impress them.”

“I’m not lovable.”

“I can’t stay committed.”

“They’re better than me.”

Research shows that most of our self-talk is negative. Remember, your thoughts impact every cell in your body, almost instantaneously, through chemical and electronic changes. So these self-defeating thoughts are negatively impacting your physical and mental performance. It’s true! These thoughts don’t just stay harmlessly in your mind, they have a physical impact on you.

When you focus on these self-defeating thoughts, like “What if I miss the free-throw?” It becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy, so to speak. Your thoughts are impacting your actual performance, positive or negative. Why not train your mind to focus on what you want instead of what’s defaulted in the automatic programming of your subconscious mind (which is usually negative)?
